Cumnock Under 16 Report

Cumnock travelled to Dumfries on Saturday to play a friendly. Dumfries were a bit short of players but as their under 15 game was cancelled the players were sorted into 3 mixed teams for a round robin game.

This worked out surprisingly well and it was great to see strong games from all the Cumnock players. John McIlwain, Mitchell Smith and Kevin Van Der Leest all showed up well whilst man of the match was Zak Ben Sliman who had 4 or 5 tremendous runs up the middle of the park requiring 3 or 4 tacklers to haul him down.

Coach mark Van Der Leest said after the game, “ the game format worked out well today and gave plenty game time to every player. It was great to see Zak get the bit between his teeth and he really asked questions of the other teams.”

Next week Cumnock play Dumfries at home in the West of Scotland Cup. Kickoff is 1pm and players should meet at 12:00.
