This week the Cougars played away at Garnock and with this their first game for a few weeks they were raring to go.

Right from the off Cumnock were the stronger team, the forwards dominated in the rucks and scrums which gave Cumnock at least 90% of the possession in the first half. It wasn't long before they capitalised on this with some excellent passing of the ball and amazing support play it wasn't long before Joe Smith touched the ball down for the first try of the game.

At the restart Cumnock were quick to run at Garnock again, with superb handling from the backs, full back Louis Andrew managed to break through Garnock's line and with a strong run and a few well placed hand offs, scored a try right beneath the posts. With the possession in Garnocks hands, the Cougars kept up the pressure and soon had Garnock trying to kick the ball up field t gain some territory but with confidence in their stride, Cumnock player Connor Hill picked up the ball and ran in the third try. All conversions in the first 20 minutes were kicked by Calum Park.

At the start of the second 20 minutes it was Garnocks turn to show they would not lay down and ran in two tries in quick succession. This did not deter the Cougars and with some clever dummy passes, quick feet and even quicker side steps, Calum Park scored the next two tries, with Alistair Birrell converting one try and Tyler Wallace converting the other. Garnock were not long in answering back with some of their quicker players getting the ball near Cumnocks line and forwards helping them finish off the try scoring.

At this point the game was flowing from end to end, but with lightening speed, Cumnocks flanker Gavin Gilliland with ball in hand ran down the wing and managed to shrug of Garnocks full back to score right between the posts, with Tyler Wallace converting.

With Cumnocks spirits high they went into the third 20 minutes with the win on their mind. Showing some steely determination Louis Andrew once again gave everyone a master class in what it means to be a full back and scored the next try and with just a few minutes left on the clock the ball went wide right in front of Garnocks line and with quick hands Lauchlan Barr ran in the last try of the game.

Congratulations go to both teams who played some magnificent rugby in some terrible weather conditions.
