Cumnock S2 19 Garnock S1/2 3

As Garnock play a mixed S1/s team they decided to play Cumnock S2s for 30 minutes and Cumnock S1s for another 30 minutes.

Cumnock S2s played some nice rugby scoring 6 tries from Jamie Drummond (2), Rob Drummond, Dylan Chidwick, Adam Watt and Zack McMurdo. Cumnock being a bit older on average had the bulk of the game against a gutsy Garnock team. Players like Scott Grierson, Zack McMurdo and Ross Marr stood out with their strong running. The Drummond cousins again showed up with searching runs and crunching tackles. Adam Watt as usual tackled everything that moved and Calum McClownie assisted with this ably on his first game back in a Cumnock strip.

Coach Alan Montgomery said after the game, “ This was a good workout for the players. After a shaky start to the season the boys are starting to progress and get closer to their potential. We have good competition for places but as always we are happy to welcome in new players.”

Next week training will take place at Broomfield on grass. There will be sessions focusing on scrumaging and lineout lifting.
