Cumnock S1/2 at Kilmarnock Friday 31st May

Cumnock end season on a high with wins over Kilmarnock and Ayr.

On Friday evening Cumnock S1/S2 team travelled to Kilmarnock to play their last fixture of the season.
With a depleted squad of 14 players the team only had 1 substitute as Kilmarnock opted for 13 a side or the first game.
Cumnock opted for Kilmarnock to kick off and straight away Cumnock went into attack carrying the ball well into the opposite half of the pitch.
Smart thinking,well executed offloads and good supporting play soon resulted in a try to put Cumnock ahead early in the game but the usual lack of commitment to rucks saw the ball end up in Kilmarnock hands and a try evened out the score.
Cumnock played a near perfect tactical and technical game which was impressive to watch as passes past dummy runners outwitted the defence to put another try on the score sheet which concluded the scoring in the first game giving Cumnock the win.

The second match against Ayr saw the Cumnock boys go into the game with a lot of confidence and a desire to show what they have been training for.
Each run was well supported and nearly every pass or offload went to hand. Looking for space the ball was moved across the field until a break could be made to score and as the game went on this became second nature resulting in six tries being scored.
Ayr played well and managed to get one try but Cumnock were playing one of their best games of the season showing off the scanning skills they have learned and the use of a defensive line.

After winning both games last weekend Friday's victories were the perfect end to a very productive season which has seen vast improvements in both age groups who have now played their last game together as they split for the new season.
