East Kilbride was the venue on Sunday for the Cumnock S1/S2 team.

Report by Martin Wallace

Cumnock took control of the game from the start and within five minutes John Watt burst through to score the first try in the corner. East Kilbride restarted but a steal at a ruck gave Logan Naismith the chance to force his way through the opposition defence to score in the opposite corner.
Tight defence and constant support play was the key to Cumnock's dominance in the first half with runners left and right ready to receive the ball.
Tackling was much improved compared to previous games with excellent techniques from Sean Houston and Robert McColl.
A third try came as Kieran Vance received a pass from fullback Chris Smith to run up the touchline to put the ball down over the try line to end the half.

The second half saw East Kilbride come out fighting, pushing hard at breakdowns and upping their attack. After four attempts to break through a gap in Cumnock's defence was breached allowing East Kilbride to score. Cumnock answered back with speed and excellent passing putting the ball wide to let Vance score again.

Cumnock's forwards put in an impressive display winning an opposition scrum which allowed stand off Tyler Wallace to make a powerful run to within two metres of the try line, passing inside to Watt who ran under the posts to score his second try.
East Kilbride got the last say scoring in the last minute after several attempts to break the Cumnock defence.Wallace scored two conversions making the final score Cumnock 17-6 East Kilbride.

Man of the match went to Chris Smith who set in motion the play for most of the tries from his position at fullback.
