Triumphant day for the P3s

Sunday saw the mighty Micros make the short journey to Ayr and dish up an entertaining and successful morning of rugby. We faced two Ayr teams and a fellow travelling team, Biggar.

The first game of the day saw us up against Ayr. Ayr started the game but from the off Finlay, John and Harry chased the home team down and soon forced the first turnover from which John took the pass from Ruari and ran in the opening try. Ayr fought hard to get back into game but Cumnock closed them down at every play. John then got his second try of game, followed by Maddy with a run up the wing to score. Ayr caught Cumnock of guard with a quick re start and got their opening try. This spurred on our players to score the next 3 tries with Riley, John and Finlay scoring. Ayr nipped in their second of the game before John run through the Ayr defence to get the final try of game. Final score 7-2

Next up was the P3s taking on a second Ayr team. The P3s started this game as they finished their first, with tenacious defending by Riley and Iona on the wings and Harry and Finlay infield again forcing the turnovers. The first try of game was a combined effort from John who quickly offloaded the ball to Maddy who scored. Ayr pushed hard and scored an equaliser. Cumnock came back after that and scored the next 5 tries with John, Maddy and Ruari, who scored a hat trick on his debut. Ayr came back with a try of their own but Cumnock never looked back and continued to shut down Ayr giving them no time on ball. The game ended with John once again scoring the final try of game. Final score 7-2

The last game of day saw our P3s take on Biggar. This game proved more of a test for a tired Cumnock side but they dug deep and proved once again what they are made of. John scored first; with a quick pass from the captain, Harry, he was able to drive over the try line. Iona and Maddy kept Biggar out with great defending. Ruari scored the second try of the match with a darting run from the halfway line. Biggar crossed the line for their next 2 tries before John got his second wind and scored the next 3. The game was end to end with each team scoring try for try. Finlay and Riley both scored and once again the last try of the game went to John!
Final score 8-5

Enjoyable day had by all.

Squad: Harry, John, Iona, Ruari, Riley, Maddy and Finlay
