P1/2 vs East Kilbride (away)

Cumnocks Primary 1/2 team travelled to East Kilbride with a smaller than usual squad of 6 players, 5 of whom were in primary 1 and all of whom were making their debut.

They faced East Kilbride in a game of two 5 minute halves. From the first whistle our mighty micros were keen to show off what they had been learning at training and East Kilbride were quick to let us know that they meant business.

With Cumnock first on the attack, East Kilbride presented an effective and well drilled defense. With mounting pressure the ball was turned over and East Kilbride ran in for their first try. Cumnock came back fighting and with several phases Joseph took the ball and scored the micros first try of the season.

Relentless pressure from the home side resulted in a flurry of tries which our micros were unable to stop despite their valiant efforts. Jamie was so close to being on the score sheet when he battled through a formidable defense only to b undone by a white line on the pitch short of the actual try line. With an audible gasp from the gallery Joseph quickly sprang into action, scooped up the ball, only to make the same mistake. This did not dampen Cumnock's spirits as the game continued at a frantic pace.

Brodie came into his own in attack as he showed us his ability to spot space and charge forward. This resulted in Cumnocks 2nd try of the match.

All in all, a well deserved win for a formidable opponent but a promising display of potential for our green Primary 1/2s.
