In the final fixture of 2017 Cumnock traveled up the coast for another Ayrshire derby against Ardrossan Accies. On a bitterly cold day the P7's quickly got into their stride and clearly working on the understanding that the best way to keep warm was by scoring tries proceeded to run in 16 of them while shutting out their hosts completely to record a fine 16-0 victory.
With new players Tom and Gavin playing a full part in the game, some call off's and positional changes that saw Lewis playing in the unfamiliar role of hooker (stealing several opposition put ins in the process) the team had slightly unfamiliar look to it. Coaches were delighted to see more recent recruits like Lucca and Harry really starting to come on to their game and make an impact. Throughout the game Cumnock ruthlessly took the game to Accies; tackling ferociously, rucking superbly and distributing the ball with a lot of skill and vision that saw the backline scorch up the pitch and keep the Accies defence working overtime to stop them. Accies never gave up and continued to compete throughout the game but the Cougars were in roaring form and snuffed out any threat and quickly counter attacked at every opportunity.
