Cougars take on the Best in the West

Cumnock P7 were on the road again this Sunday, travelling to Milngavie to take on West of Scotland and other visiting teams from Ayr and Allan Glens. West and Ayr were two of the best teams the Cougars came up against last season and after last week's great win over Ayr the Coaches were keen were keen to see how the Cumnock boys would fare against West: a huge club with one of the very best youth sections in Scotland.

West Red 2 - Cumnock 3
First up was West Red. This was a fantastic game which flowed from one tryline to the other as both teams played some very assured rugby. Rock solid defence and superb handling and running lines were complemented by ferocious rucking and solid set piece performances. It was the Black and Reds who edged the contest to record a brilliant win.
Tries: TJ, Dan, Lucca

Allan Glens 1 - Cumnock 0
Next up were Allan Glens from Bishopbriggs who the Cougars had played several times over previous seasons remaining undefeated in the process. ‘Glans however came out of the block fizzing and put the Cougars under a huge amount of pressure as they ended up camped out on their own tryline for almost a quarter of the game. The Cougars were unable to satisfactorily clear their line but defended like demons against wave after wave of Glens attack. When Glens did manage to cross the line for their try it seemed just reward for their huge effort. As the game returned to more open play Cumnock seemed less fluent in their attack and less confident on the ball and were unable to finish off their try scoring opportunities.

West Yellow 0 - Cumnock 5
There was no lack of confidence in the next game as Cumnock seemed to be doing everything right - and at pace. Against another very good ‘West side they were relentless in defence and attack playing lovely rugby.
Tries: Dan 3, Lewis 2

Ayr 0 - Cumnock 4
In the final game against old pals Ayr the Cougars carried on in the same vein; backing up last week’s win and shutting out a very capable and well coached team while scoring 4 superb tries demonstrating the high quality of rugby this squad are capable of.
Tries: Dan, TJ, Mackenzie, Lewis

Squad; Sandy Hay, Dan McKinlay, Lewis Young, Ross Lindsay, Cameron Kerr, Jacob Robertson, Finn Hewitt, Mackenzie Roy, Tyler Wilson, TJ Graham, Lucca Antonucci, Thomas Robertson.
