Cumnock P7 v Marr

Cumnock P7’s were hoping to get back to winning ways after their unbeaten season run came to an end against Loch Lomond last week, however with this week’s opponents being local Ayrshire side Marr, they team knew that they would have to dig deep and play to their ability against one of the best teams in the West.
Marr kicked off and immediately took the game to Cumnock, running hard with assured handling, spinning the ball throughout the team, creating space and looking for gaps in the home side’s defence, Despite some stout tackling from the Cougars, Marr showed their class to put a man over for the game’s first try. Cumnock kept their composure and strung together some effective play themselves, with the forwards securing some ruck ball and both midfields competing hammer and tongs, Cumnock took advantage of the gaps out wide to put the ball out to Dan who sprinted half the length of the pitch to equalise. Control of the game was heavily contested for the rest of the match with crunching tackles and great commitment at rucks and strong breaks from both sides. Marr were next to score but it was then that the Cougars really kicked up a gear and ran in a series of superb scores. Marr never looked out of the game and made Cumnock work hard for every piece of possession and point. In the end the Cougars ran out worthy winners in what was a brilliant match for the sizeable crowd of parents and onlookers.
