Playing in sometimes atrocious conditions the Cumnock players showed a lot of heart and determination.
All the points came in the first half with 2 tries for Jamie Drummond and 1 for his cousin Rob Drummond. The extra points were added skilfully by Owen Young.
Cumnock should a lot of character to compete for the full 70 minutes against a committed Livingston outfit. Players like Matt Montgomery, Mitchell and Declan Grainger stuck in hard with good carries and strong rucking. In the backs Owen Young caused problems on the wing whilst Hamish White and Rob Drummond pulled off some crunching try saving tackles. Captain Wallace Finlay as always led from the front and Jamie Drummond had his usual strong game.
Coach Alan Montgomery said after the game, “ I was really pleased with how the boys applied themselves in terrible conditions. They produced some very skilful rugby at times and should be proud of themselves. I would pick Adam “Killa” Watt out for a bit of special praise for the problems he caused his opposite number at the back of the scrum. We play top of the table Greenock next week and need a full turn out for training on Tuesday and especially Thursday night. We could also do with some support if anyone is available to come along at 2pm next Sunday.
