Kilmarnock vs Cumnock S1s

The visitors kicked off into the Kilmarnock ranks and immediately put on the pressure driving back the home side deep into their own half. After some intense play Cumnock won back the ball after it was knocked loose from a ruck letting Sean Houston kick and pick up to touch down over the line.

Kilmarnock answered back with a couple of tries testing the Cumnock defence who were playing a man down with 10 against 11. The score was evened up when forward Scott Teece received a wide pass to score in the corner, before Kilmarnock came back with another two tries leaving Cumnock to catch up. Play went back and forth but soon Cumnock went on the attack. A penalty awarded at the 22 saw Nathan Steele drive over to take the visitors one score behind.

In the second half the backs took control passing and running into space by Callum Bell made good ground to open a channel for John Watt to run in two tries in the corner. Defensively Cumnock held out well tackling hard, rucking and driving the opposition off the ball but a penalty conceded allowed Kilmarnock to score again. Tyler Wallace took possession of the ball at the half way line and made a break scoring under the posts. Kilmarnock scored another two then Sean Houston weaved through defenders to put in the final try of the match.

Wingers Lauchlin Barr and Brendon McFadzean made some powerful runs and provided support throughout the match keeping the score down to one try of a difference.
