Cumnock U13 v Allan Glens

The Cumnock S1 squad welcomed Allan Glens for the first match of the season. There were a number of players new to the game and the club with this being their first experience of taking part in a competitive rugby match, the more established members of the squad also had to get to grips with the step up from last season.
The visitors arrived with a well organised, disciplined and experienced squad that moved the ball well and were quick to attack the Cumnock line at all opportunities, with their experience clearly evident, especially when it came to set play's and the ruck. Nevertheless, the Cumnock squad displayed great commitment and motivation and attempted to take the game to their opponents, with some strong running and breaks through the opposition line, there was also some great tackling from a number of the Cumnock players throughout the match.
In the end Allan Glen's ran out worthy winners on the day; however for their first game the Cumnock squad displayed great commitment and a desire to compete with the opposition, more importantly they all appeared to enjoy the experience of being involved in the game. All coaches were impressed with the performance from the whole squad especially when considering this was a new experience for a number of the players and are looking forward to developing the squad over the season.

The squad train on a Thursday night from 6pm - 7.30pm at the club, new players welcome.
