Report by Alan Montgomery
Cumnock got off to a flying start, with Dylan Chidwick bursting through the East Kilbride defence and running 20 metres for the first score. Andy Houston was pulling the strings at stand-off, seconds later he burst through a number of challenges and offloaded the ball to “man mountain” Wallace Findlay, who powered over the line.
Cumnocks forwards were dominating the scrum, with new boys Zack Sliman, Andrew Livingstone and Charlie Mcpheators making great debuts. Wallace Findlay powered over for his second try after good work from Adam “Killa” Watt. The last period was frantic as East Kilbride pilled on the pressure. Cumnock held on for a 13-12 victory with a try late on.
A special mention has to go to Owen Young who made a try scoring tackle at the final whistle to prevent Cumnock losing.
Coach Alan Hill was “very proud of the boys as they worked their socks off, especially in defence.”
Training next week is on Tuesday and Thursday 6.30-8.00pm
