Report by Morton Houston
There were tries galore on a beautiful sunny day with perfect playing conditions. Top try scorer was Dylan Chidwick with a well taken hat trick, also scoring were Jamie Drummond (2), Andy Houston (2), Owen Young, Lucas McCallum and Hamish White. The game was a very good work out for all the players but Cumnock were particularly pleased to have a turn out of 22 players.
The game was notable for the performances of 2 of the stronger runners in the Cumnock team, Jamie Drummond and Wallace Findlay, who both showed there was more to their game than strong running. Both these players burst holes in the opposition defence before moving the ball wide. These led to a number of scores and even some smiles on the coaches’ faces.
Coach Alan Hill commented, “We have a number of strong runners in the team and we have been trying over recent weeks to impress on them the importance of moving the ball about the park. It was good today to see some of that coming into practice. Today’s performance was of a good standard especially considering we had a number of new and less experienced players playing. In fact these new players did particularly well and showed they had some real potential for the future.
