Cumnock Joint First at Hamilton Tournament

Hamilton 7 Cumnock 7

Cumnock got off to a very slow start which ultimately cost them a win in this game. The players seemed to think an easy win was on the cards but a fiery Hamilton team had other plans. They scored within 2 minutes of the kick off and again just before the break with a solitary long range try from Dylan Chidwick in response. In the second half Cumnock huffed and puffed but couldn’t seem to get the break through they needed. With only seconds to go Chidwick bundled over the line again and Wallace Findlay showed ice cold nerves to convert for a draw.

Cumnock 15 Uddingston 0

The second game saw Cumnock get into their stride. They tackled Uddy to a standstill and spread the ball wide to open up gaps. Tries came from Ross Marr, Andy Houston (2) and Jamie Drummond. Special mention goes to Evan Smith who carved out one of Houston ’ tries before selflessly playing his team mate in.

Cumnock 24 Livingston 0

In the last game Cumnock cut loose against a gutsy Livingston team. They moved the ball well about the park which resulted in tries for Owen Young, Wallace Findlay, birthday boy Adam Watt and Jamie Drummond (3).

Coach, bus driver, fees man, boot lace tier, Alan Montgomery said after the game, “This was a good performance at a well organised tournament. We perhaps let ourselves down a wee bit in the first game but we quickly got back in our stride and played well. Joint first is a good result and hopefully we can go one better at our own tournament on Sunday coming”.

Next week: Training 6:30 – 8:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday and our home S1+ S2 tournament on Sunday against Hamilton, Marr and Whitecraigs. Players should meet at 11am and each player is asked to bring 6 filled rolls with them.
