The scoreline did not reflect the game for Cumnock 2nd XV who came up against a good well drilled Waysiders team. Cumnock defended well with some sloppy tackles to start with but showed much more improvement as the game progressed. Waysiders however played a wonderful offload game, as soon as they were tackled the ball was passed to a player who was always in support and it felt like relentless running at Cumnock. Cumnock never gave up and battled tirelessly for possession but lack of composure at times on the ball resulted in turnovers and more pressure against the team. The Cumnock try came from a long range run from Hastings who collected the ball on the right wing inside his own 22 metre line and ran up the wing to score Cumnock’s only try, Taylor kicking the conversion. Cumnock rallied but found it difficult against a very good team. With some old faces and new faces in the squad there are more better things to come for the Cumnock squad.
