Report by Martin Wallace
Both teams were fairly evenly matched throughout the game,Kilmarnock with the edge on the forward play and Cumnock more experienced in the backs.
Cumnock were first to score after a run by standoff Tyler Wallace made a pass near the try line to centre Callum Bell who scored in the corner.
Kilmarnock dominated at the scrums which made the Cumnock defence work hard to keep them from scoring.Eventually the Kilmarnock forwards broke the line running the ball in from a penalty five metres from the try line to even up the score.
There was some great play during the game as gaps were exploited to gain ground, offloads and passing was of a high standard and tackling was greatly improved. Sean Houston playing centre was creating havoc pushing up and disrupting the opposition attack. Chances came for both sides but Kilmarnock managed to go ahead with another try.
Cumnock responded by pressuring their opponents into making mistakes, turning over the ball and allowing scrum half John Watt the chance to score twice putting Cumnock back ahead to win the match.
This was a vastly improved performance by the whole team working together as a unit to get a well deserved result.
