Report by Martin Wallace
Lack of numbers in the S1 ranks left the team short of a full squad which got made up with S2 players filling in vacant positions.
Marr began to dominate as commitment at breakdowns, poor defence and tackling from Cumnock let Marr through to score three easy tries.
Changes were made as a few more S2 players were added to even up the experience and competition. This slowed up the Marr attack and put Cumnock back on the counter attack. The first half ended with another Marr try and a few minor injuries.
More changes were made in the second half with S1 and S2 players being replaced. This was a more experienced side which showed at breakdowns which were now being competed and won.The level of every player lifted and a more confident team began to recycle and pass the ball to open up space for runners to carry the ball forward. The game evened out with Cumnock running in two tries and kicking two conversions but a lapse in concentration left gaps for Marr to score again. The game ended with a win for Marr due to a poor first half performance which was addressed to late to even up the game.
The coaches commend the players who are turning up at training and games every week but a full squad is needed on a regular basis.
New players are welcome at both age groups .
Training is on Tuesday and Thursday from 18.00 feel free to turn up.
