Cumnock Vs Marr

This week Cumnock RFC Cougars hosted the very talented Marr RFC. As we have played our South Ayrshire neighbours many times over the last couple of years we were both very well aware of our opponents strengths and weaknesses. We played 2 very hard fought matches against the same teams with super subs rolling on and off to keep the kids fresh and raring to go. A huge well done to our 2 new players Neil and Adam K who played really well in their first match today.

Match 1:

Our first game started off pretty shaky from both teams as they both struggled to set the tempo for the other to chase. Some fast footed and also hard fought tries from our Cumnock heroes enabled them to set a hard task for the youngsters of Marr to defend. Adam S and Stuart showed us how to carry the ball forward through the tackles with Kyran being able to upset the defenders by breaking through almost every opponent that was sent his way. Alfie, Aaron and Neil showed some excellent fast footwork to bring a great all round performance to show that Cumnock P4s wont be a one trick pony in any game and can seek out the try line not form any angle but from every angle. With Jake bringing the tackles down upon or opponents they were barely able to get moving. Marr were able to battle hard and with strong teamwork and passion they were able to keep their own scoreline ticking over nicely. The young Cougar Cubs were able to keep their own scoreline rolling on and won the game with strong teamwork.

Match 2:

Our 2nd match started off at a very high tempo with the passion continuing on from the previous game. Both teams again fought hard for each other and worked well together. This time Adam K, Rudi and Ross were our tackle tastic players. The individual runs in this game were very impressive as Marr were left running side to side but the only thing they were able to hold onto was the hope that maybe they could catch one of our players at some point. In one run Ross was darting across the field he broke through 6 tacklers one by one to make his way over the line to score. Marrs frustration was showing through and the gaps were able to be opened right up and once again Broomfield was the home of an astounding Cumnock P4 victory but the scoreline did not reflect the domination that was shown.
