Cumnock Vs GHA & Dumfries

Cumnock P4 Cougars hosted GHA and Dumfries for an excellent Sunday morning match of Rugby at the new Broomfield pitches and we couldn’t have asked for better conditions!

The first match was against a powerful GHA team and as usual the young p4’s took a bit of time to get into their swing, going down 4-1 early on in first half but the thought of a defeat must have kicked in and the boys worked together as a team to bring it back to 4-4 with some brilliant tackling from Adam and Kyran and the fantastic Jake playing in a full back role not letting any runners get past him without a challenge. This resulted in some turnover balls and Cumnock scoring 3 in a row with Ross looking like taking the position of one of our fast paced winger’s scoring 1. Aaron had a great hatrick showing he was again on superb form with his usual direct run to the corner tries.

The second match of the day was against another well organised and talented Dumfries team. This was another tough match with the Dumfries boy’s showing great skill with teamwork and great offloads when getting tackled and another good challenge for the Cougars. The first try from Cumnock came from Stuart showing great determination getting an offload pass from Adam and pumping his legs to put the ball down over the line. The try of the match came from a suberb interception from Alfie showing fantastic vision and running from his own try line to touch down for another great score. Euan and Kyran showed some fantastic powerful runs and breaking tackles which helped the team to draw against a well matched Dumfries team.

The final match was against GHA B team another closely contested match showing both well drilled teams were up for the challenge giving the spectators a treat, with some fantastic tackling and running and some superb ball handling skills the final score was .
