Cumnock Vs Cambuslang & Hamilton

Cumnock Cougars P4 team travelled to the eastern outskirts of Glasgow on a glorious sunny morning to face Cambuslang and Hamilton. They played 4 10 minute games against two Cambuslang teams and two Hamilton teams. It was an outstanding afternoon with some fantastic rugby played by our accomplished team.

The first game was against Hamilton A team and again what we have seen in the last couple of weeks took Cumnock a while to settle into the match giving away a few sloppy tries and tackling being a bit sluggish. However Cumnock still came away with a win 4-6.

The second game against Cambuslang A team started off with tries being scored pretty much evenly by both sides at 3-3 Cumnock switched on defensively with their defensive wall becoming unbreachable and Cambuslang not scoring another try in the match. Cumnock’s defence was outstanding along with their attacking play making them unstoppable, resulting in a great score 3-10.

The third game was against the second team from Hamilton, Hamilton B team. This was another outstanding performance from the multi talented P4’s. Every player in the team managed to get on the score sheet. Stuart and Kyran got 1 each, two each for Alfie, Jake, Ross and Euan and a hat-trick for Aaron. Once again it was the outstanding defence that had really made all of this possible bringing the opponents to their knees over and over again. Final score 0-12.

After a 10 minute break and some time to recharge their batteries the Cougars were ready for their final game of the day against Cambuslang B team, they started again at a fast pace and firing on all cylinders, they continued to be solid in defence and slick in attack and another fantastic display from our P4 team final score 2-10 and 4 out of 4 for wins for the day.

The coaches were absolutely delighted with the performance of the team today. The common theme of the day was Cumnock constantly applying pressure, great tackling and working together as a team which resulted in great results.
