Cumnock P6 – 5 Kilmarnock P6 - 2
The Cumnock kids started their first game rather slowly, little effort was being put in and just managing to get to half time with the score luckily at 2-2. The second half was a different ball game though and the kids came out with more fight, being more aggressive at the rucks and allowing turnover ball letting the team have more possession and being able to run at Kilmarnock. There were some really nice passing moves shipping the ball wide but still Cumnock are not using the overlap at times when we have extra players wide and not being used. It was a far better second half and a great game to watch with the score line probably flattering Cumnock with Kilmarnock giving the kids a really tight game.
Cumnock P6 – 3 Ardrossan P6 – 4
This game had a bit of everything, excitement, skills, aggression and drama but really was an evenly matched game with some great pieces of play from both sides. The score was nip and tuck all the way with Ardrossan just edging it at the end. There were some great tackles, big hits and lovely passages of play with great passing and running. Cumnock were getting back into their stride unfortunately not rucking quite so well in the game but really defending and tackling well but once again when they had the overlap it wasn’t used with a few players deciding to sidestep back into the danger areas. The team has a lot of work to do but there were good signs throughout the two games which were great to watch.
