P6 Home West and Hamilton

CUMNOCK P6

Cumnock P6 – 4 Hamilton P6 - 5

On what was likely to be the kids last game playing at Broomfield it ended up a cracker with both Hamilton and West of Scotland the visitors and two very tough opponents. First up was Hamilton who are always very tough opponents a big physical team who play great rugby and it ended up a cracker of a tie. The game was nip and tuck all the way and it was really pleasing to see Cumnock matching their opponents. Tackles were being made although some of them still too high allowing their opponents to keep moving and play a pop pass something Cumnock will need to work on but the Cumnock kids themselves had some great passing and running. There was less bunching and better awareness throughout the game and could finally be a turning point for the season.

Cumnock P6 – 3 West of Scotland P6 – 3

Another tough test came for the home team this time West of Scotland the visiting team and another entertaining match. Considering the heavy pitch there were loads of skills on show from both teams especially some of the wide passing. Cumnock’s rucking was a bit sloppy at times a little bit too stand offish but in general the skills were at a high level for all the teams involved on the day. West scored some lovely tries along with Cumnock through a mixture of power and good passing it was a treat to watch.

In the true spirit of rugby for the last game Cumnock split into two, one team joining West and the other Hamilton and it was great to see all the kids gel and play what was a great day of rugby and quite fitting for possibly their last match at Broomfield. Also a very big well done to the kids and parents who then participated in a sponsored walk to Dumfries House and back to the club to help raise funds for their upcoming tour to Newcastle in May I’m sure all the kids slept well after all that.

Team – Lewis O’Kane, Katy Hart, Glen Paterson, Harry Linden, Kian Cleland, Blair Bell, Seth McKenzie, Ali Wallace, Oliver Baird, Ben Welsh, Sam Allan, Blair Lorimer, Alfie Linden, Cameron Roxburghe
