Ardrossan P6 – 5 Cumnock P6 - 9
This was the last game before the winter training and the kids were trying to overturn the poor run of results recently with everyone working hard at training to eliminate the soft tackling from previous games. Most impressive was Brooklyn who is fairly new to rugby but showed he has the heart of a lion with some great tackling throughout the game. Blair also improved on his tackling and it was great to see Oliver getting stuck into the rucks. Probably the most improved recently is Kian and he was making some good tackles and runs which is very pleasing. From the start when the game kicked off we had Stuart and Alfie both a constant menace and this kept forcing Ardrossan into making quick passes and errors which the Cumnock kids would pounce on and gain possession back. There were some lovely team tries scored great to see Lewis with some of his jinking runs and some great passing Seth setting up a few crackers. Ardrossan did come back into the game with some lovely running and neat tries but the power from Sam and Harry was too much especially at the rucks winning a few overturned balls allowing Cumnock the advantage. The best try of the day went to Ali who really uses the space on the pitch well. Seth powered his way from midfield and when he pulled in a few of the Ardrossan defenders Ali was screaming in support and when Seth popped the pass into his oncoming run it was a lovely try scored in the corner.
Overall a great team effort and good to see the improvement with tackling and rucking. We are now heading into the winter training and hopefully this will allow us to improve in certain areas around the pitch.
