P6 Away to West of Scotland

CUMNOCK P6

West of Scotland P6 – 4 Cumnock P6 - 1

Cumnock travelled to Milngavie to play both West of Scotland and Ayr on a fresh frosty morning. With 4 games played in total it was great for the kids and certainly took a lot out of them with the effort that was put in over the course of the 4 games. Against West of Scotland the first game finished with a 2-0 defeat the kids just struggling to finish and find the final breakthrough required but there was some really good play and the try that was scored in the second game with a 2-1 defeat was a cracker with great running and support play. There were a few weak tackles throughout both games and this allowed West to break through and score their tries which was disappointing but still the kids never gave up and had some nice passages of play.

Ayr P6 – 5 Cumnock P6 – 4

After the defeat from the previous week, the kids were up for some revenge and once again we were served two cracking games. The first game finished a draw at 3-3 with some good rucking, much improved from the previous week and some good tries. There was good passing and running but still a bit disjointed at times and struggling to get a good run where it all comes together. The second game was really close and pretty even as well with Ayr coming out on top 2-1.

It seems to be every time we work on a certain skill at training it goes well on the Sunday but something else gives and hopefully we can let it all come together in the coming months. Tackling unfortunately is quite poor at the moment with some boys still low on confidence and others still tackling high but we will work hard this week at training and take it into the next match. Hopefully a few of the kids can get their confidence up and get more involved in the game and I’m sure we’ll see the results soon.

Squad – Ali Wallace, Kian Clelland, Seth McKenzie, Lewis O’Kane, Oliver Baird, Glen Patterson, Katy Hart, Kerr Gibson, Brooklyn Phillips, Harry Linden, Alfie Linden, Blair Bell
