Cumnock travelled to Hamilton knowing it’s always a tough contest, one of the harder teams at our age level and after the show from the previous week went with high spirits. Unfortunately things just didn’t go quite to plan. Hamilton have a lot of strong runners and there were too many missed tackles from the Cumnock kids which in turn caused them to bunch too much and leave gaps throughout the defence. Rucking was fairly poor so a lot of ball was lost but probably the biggest fault was the poor passing and handling. Time after time the ball was spilled on the floor and Hamilton rucked over putting Cumnock on the back foot once more. There were a few decent individual performances most notably Aidan Murphy really impressing with his running on the ball, Glen was really strong in attack and defence, Lewis with good covering tackles and Ben welsh with strong running and rucking. Hopefully all the kids can attend training on Thursday and we can work again on spatial awareness and handling.
