Cumnock P6 @ Home

Cumnock P6 – 1 East Kilbride P6 - 2
It was the first game of the season for the primary 6’s and some new rules with a bigger pitch and squad numbers. Defensively both teams played really well and there weren’t many gaps to find ways through but it was a very entertaining match for the large support that was there to watch. The scrums were going well one of the new parts of the game introduced and not really much kicking as we were barely in our own five metre line to kick but you could see the kids really trying to think how to break the gain line. There was a realisation that there were no big gaps and so the kids started trying to pass the ball out wide, something which we will need to work on over the next few weeks. Tackling was really good special mention to Oliver for his improvement with his tackles and everybody really trying hard but the one part which really let us down was our rucking. We worked really hard at training on it but unfortunately never used it in the game with too many of the kids standing back instead of getting stuck in but we know what we need to do in training to overcome this. Great start to the season and looking forward to the games ahead.
