Cumnock took to the field with a team of old and new players both eager to make an impression against their opponents.
From the first kick off Cumnock pushed up and pressured Marr but a miss pass from the Marr centre found its way to their winger who sped up the open side to score.
Cumnock went back on the attack but were struggling to break through the defensive line when a break made by scrum half Sean Houston made five metres before offloading to John Watt playing centre sidestepped closer to the line. Brought to ground just short a ruck was formed and a clearing kick got Marr out of trouble.
As play continued Marr ran in two more tries being a more established squad but Cumnock worked hard and made it difficult for them to break through. Forwards Scott Teece and Nathan Steele put in some good performances taking the ball forward and setting up rucks and mauls as well as competing well in the scrums.
Centre Callum Bell and stand-off Tyler Wallace put in some amazing tackles and worked well together at the breakdowns usually winning the ball to make a few runs close to the try line.
The game ended scoreless for Cumnock but a good performance was put in by every player in the team who never let their heads go down or give up right to the end. Well done boys, just a learning curve.
