Cumnock knew that this would be a hard task as they had suffered defeat against the same team earlier in the season. From the kick off it was evident that the Cumnock boys were up for this game playing some really attractive rugby with the forwards driving the ball well and the three quarters finding spaces in their opponents back line. Early on in the game a ruck formed near the Whitecraigs try line and when the ball popped out, fullback Ross Marr picked it up drove for the line and dived over for the first try. Jamie Drummond was the star of a strong forwards pack and his strong running in the loose resulted in him scoring 2 tries. The heartbeat of this Cumnock team is in the midfield positions with Adam Watt, Robb Drummond, Andy Houston and Owen Young all making great runs in the loose and tackling tenaciously in defence. The Cumnock try scorers were Jamie Drummond (2), Ross Marr, Robb Drummond, Owen Young and Andy Houston in a satisfying 6-2 victory over the visitors.
The game ended prematurely with a neck injury to Adam Watt resulting in the Ambulance service being called. At time of writing Adam is being kept in overnight at Crosshouse hospital as a precaution. All his team mates and coaches at the club wish him a speedy recovery.
